Recording some moments from our Lenten pretzel making…proof that mom did do some fun things that year she was pregnant with that yet-to-be-met sibling during the longest winter of ever.
While I have in the past used my recipe, I decided this year to go with this one (with just a few flour tweaks) which is almost exactly the same except for some added milk. It was perfect.
Why yes, they are supposed to get haircuts this week.
Camo paper airplane in the background to make the scene complete.
The recipe called for nine pretzels but I cut it into 12 for easy family division. Things moms must think of ahead of time.
Gather your minions for snake rolling.
Good thing salt doesn't go bad. I'm pretty sure this little container is about six years old…and should last us another six. Apparently, I've gotten my money's worth.
Watch out, Auntie Anne.
They were delicious. Though I would have loved a bit of that
absolutely deliciously fantastic, er, horribly bad for you processed cheese sauce to go with it.
And, of course, how you must pray before you eat your pretzels. Because that's what it's all about.
Hope you're having a very blessed Holy Week, friends. We've got our annual spring cleaning, foot washing, and lots and lots of Triduum liturgy to keep us busy and hopefully getting these hearts ready for Easter. It's been a bit of a harder go this year but with His grace, we're getting through transition and will find the birth of Easter on the other side.
