Sometimes You Just Gotta Be Abe

Sometimes you plan something for your nine year old to do for memory work and sometimes you look down as you're helping him work one morning and sometimes you do a quick little math problem and realize that THIS very year is the 150th anniversary of such a historical event.  And you had no idea.

So sometimes you have to do this:

May God bless our country and may all those who laid down their lives for others find eternal rest in Him.

  1. Wow! I am so impressed! That was a lot to memorize, John Paul! Hmmm...do we have a budding politician in the family?

  2. Love it! Joshua memorized it last year and he would have been mortified if I taped him! Go JP!!

And did you know that TODAY is the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address? I am sure you did since you posted this today.

  3. Very well done John Paul!! Ira (our 7 year old son) walked by the computer and saw "The Gettysburg Address" and got all excited! He watched it with me and was highly impressed. He hasn't done anything quite that long for memory work yet, but isn't it amazing what a kid's mind can memorize? Among other things, he has 30 catechism questions memorized word for word and it just blows my mind.
